We’re totally excited for Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
From August 16-22, cinemas across the country will screen Filipino films and Filipino films only—thanks to the Film Development Council of the Philippines, which partnered with the National Cinema Association of the Philippines and SM Lifestyle Entertainment, the latter dedicating a whopping 700 cinemas for the shindig.
“The event is open to all Filipino filmmakers who may submit films on or before June 15, 2017,” reports Cinemabravo, adding that Pista is looking to screen 10-12 films to be selected by a selection committee headed by the FDCP.
They’re not choosy with genres—as long as they emulate Filipino sensibilities and culture. “Each film will be screened at a minimum of sixty (60) theaters,” it adds.
Pista coincides with the Buwan ng Wika celebrations happening all through the month of August. Apart from the the weeklong Filipino movies-exclusive cinemas, there will be caravans, forums, and surveys to expect.
All together now: yipee!
