Officially released in 1972, the Cortez is the first Nike to offer visible technology and an endearing pop culture icon. It has become a staple of west coast hip-hop street style and produced champion runners.
It was a revolution on the track with innovations by track coach Bill Bowerman. And to celebrate its 45th year anniversary in the footwear scene, Nike will drop three new and exciting colorways for the Cortez. Here are some overview of the new Nike Cortez:
WMNS Classic Cortez: OG (Forrest Gump)
The Cortez returns in its most famous colorway! The OG has its traditional leather build with a simple white and Varsity Red colorway with subtle blue detailing.
WMNS Classic Cortez: California Classic
Now, to celebrate the cities where it reigned supreme, the classic black and white colorway comes together with shining gold accents to ignite the Southern California-inspired Classic Cortez.
WMNS Classic Cortez: Oregon
For its last offering, Nike offers the classic green and yellow colorway celebrating the design’s Oregon roots.
These colorways will be available in select Nike retail stores, Sole Academy, Capital, and The Athlete’s Foot starting May 30.
