Maureen Wroblewitz has proven once again that she’s not a model with a ‘pretty face but no skills’ as she earned her spot in the final 3 of Asia’s Next Top Model Season 5. Yas, gurl!
The remaining Filipina in the competition will battle it out with Vietnam’s Minh Tu Nguyen and Malaysia’s Shikin Gomez at next week’s finale.
On Wednesday’s episode of the reality show, Maureen found herself in the bottom two with Indonesia’s Clara Tan after struggling with her fear of heights in the Subaru vertical runway challenge. With just a third of a point to her advantage, Maureen pushed through to the finals.
“Never have I expected to come this far! This makes me even more proud of all the things I’ve achieved during the competition,” the 19-year-old model said on her Instagram account.
She also talked about how overwhelming the week’s challenges were as well as the decision to incorporate her personal story in the photoshoot ‘which wasn’t an easy thing for me to do’.
“After everything this week, I didn’t expect to be part of the Finale. But I’m glad I am. I’m not done yet showing all I’ve got,” Maureen posted.
Maureen’s possible win this season will be the first for the country following cycles of Filipina models repeatedly landing the second and third spots: Stephanie Retuya in 2012, Jodilly Pendre and Katarina Rodriguez in 2014, and Monika Sta. Maria in 2015.
No matter the outcome though, we’re cheering for you, Maureen!
