After the rumored back-to-back hosting of Miss Universe, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said that the Philippines will not host the pageant for a second consecutive year.

During the International Conference on Sustainable Tourism for Development, DOT Secretary Wanda Teo revealed that it was “too soon” to host the prestigious event.

“No Miss Universe this year. Baka next year (Maybe next year),” Teo said.

Teo also said that the country still has to host the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit which will also be held in November.

DOT Undersecretary Kat de Castro earlier said that the organizers of the Miss Universe pageant asked “if they can have Miss Universe done here in the Philippines.”

The Philippines hosted the 65th Miss Universe coronation night last Jan 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena where Miss France Iris Mittenaere took home the crown.
