A famous K-Drama ship has officially sailed. OMG!
Descendants of the Sun lead stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are getting married late October, according to Soompi .
The couple’s agencies—United Artists Agency (UAA) and Blossom Entertainment—released a joint statement announcing the marriage.
“Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will be holding a wedding ceremony on the final day of October, 2017,” the agencies said.
They also thanked both Korean and international fans for the love and support to the couple and apologized for relaying the surprising news only now.
“A marriage is not only a private matter but also a meeting between two families, so it was a delicate situation in many ways. We ask for everyone’s understanding,” they continued.
The actress and actor’s romance began while filming their hit drama Descendants of the Sun in late 2015, All Kpop cited Korean news site OSEN.
Before dating the 31-year-old actor, Song Hye Kyo was revealed to have felt uncomfortable with the idea of dating a celebrity. Despite this, Song Joong Ki put effort into the courtship and the 35-year-old actress eventually opened up.
The couple repeatedly denied dating rumors in the past, including the most recent news that they were spotted together in an island in Bali.
While K-Drama fans were all #shookt by the news, they quickly congratulated the couple on social media. The #SongSongCouple immediately shot to the Philippine and World Twitter trends list hours after the announcement.
