Model and host Georgina Wilson drew flak from social media netizens after posting photos wearing communist caps at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China. Uh-oh.
The now-deleted Instagram posts featured Georgina with sister Jessica Wilson, and cousin Martine Cajucom sporting the said souvenir caps while taking a photo in front of the Tiananmen monument.
Tiananmen Square in Beijing is a historical place where hundreds of protesters fighting for freedom were killed during the Communist Party’s rule in China in 1989. The tragic event is now known as the Tiananmen Square Massacre.
Netizens, needless to say, took offense. Some commented on the said post, took screenshots of the photo and called them out for being “inappropriate” and “culturally insensitive.”

: I'm not disappointed at Georgina Wilson, et al, for what they did in Tiananmen. Never expected anything good from them to begin with.

After deleting the photos, the fashionista group known as the It Girls, has not formally released any statement regarding the issue.
Tbh, everybody (not only celebs) should remember that the purpose of traveling is not only to appreciate beautiful places, it is also a good way to learn about their culture and know how to respect it. Lesson learned!
