From posts of antique houses relocated in Bataan as part of the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar ‘together with other materials they gathered from the workshops, the result is an exquisite zen inspired garden where one can contemplate the journeys that the houses, and the families who once lived inside them, underwent in order for the garden to come into existence’. Not just one but two exhibitions will be open to the public this August at the Lopez Museum and Library. Jason Dy S.J. and Anton del Castillo will headline The Given Order, ‘a visual exploration of  the different tangents of faith and tradition in our past and in our lives today’.  Fr. Dy looked into religion as agent of social order and transformation through art in conjunction with the spiritual life of communities he is connected with. Del Castillo’s works, meanwhile, engage with the anxieties and violence in the perception and experience of the individual and collective faith. Quijano De Manila, also known as Nick Joaquin, will be remembered in the Thea Garing-curated exhibition in What Do I Say To A Giant. It strives to (re)introduce Quijano’s works in conversation with works of Marc Gaba and Teaching Exhibitions, alongside tangents that will meaningfully engage present contexts. August 19, 4 pm to 8 pm G/F Benpres Bldg.
