If you’re an OPM lover and supportive of social causes, here’s a concert you would definitely love to attend.

Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, together with other OPM acts are set to perform at “NakakaLokal: A Birthday Celebration” on August 25, Friday, a benefit concert for World Vision’s global advocacy campaign, “It Takes The World to End Sexual Exploitation against Children.”

The musical affair, to take place at the Kia Theater in Cubao, Quezon City, will also be the World Vision ambassador’s 50th birthday celebration.

“It (concert) is very special and what a way to celebrate my birthday by giving back in my own little way,” he told members of the media at the concert’s press conference.

Part of the star-studded line-up who will be joining Alcasid (and volunteered without a talent fee) are Angeline Quinto, Basti Artadi, Davey Langit, Erik Santos, Iñigo Pascual, Jaya, Kyla, Lara Maigue, Leila Alcasid, Lovi Poe, Men and Music, Solenn Heusaff, and Yeng Constantino. Yas!

All proceeds of the event will help the humanitarian NGO’s child-focused advocacy, which aims to raise awareness on the issue of child sexual abuse, provide training to prevent abuses, and assist victims in their recovery. The campaign targets to protect 3 million children from sexual exploitation by 2020.

In the country, 1 out of 10 children experience sexual violence at home and those as young as 3 months old are victims of live-stream sexual abuse.

“The advocacy is just something that’s very dear to me. Sila ang nakakapagpaalala sa akin na dapat tayong kumilos. May dapat tayong gawin. Alam naman natin na dito sa Pilipinas maraming biktima niyan,” Alcasid said.
