The very first independent film of Megastar Sharon Cuneta entitled Ang Pamilyang Hindi Lumuluha, has gotten its commercial release. Yay!
The film premiered at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival 2017 last August tells the story of Cora (Sharon Cuneta) who moves heaven and earth to gather the mythical Family Who Does Not Weep. Cora believes that by doing so, her estranged husband and children will return to their home.
In an interview, the Megastar said that she was so excited to do an offbeat role. “In this movie, you will never seen me like this anywhere else!” she stressed.
The film features the hilarious banter between Sharon and Moi (who plays Cora’s inimitable maid, Bebang), a heartwarming story, and Sharon’s offbeat character. Another special treat is an original theme song sung and composed by Ely Buendia entitled, “Gabi Man, May Araw Din.”
The comedy-drama opens in theaters nationwide on September 6 distributed by Star Cinema written and directed by Mes de Guzman.
According to de Guzman, the project took more than three years from the time he presented it to Sharon to the time it was completed. “Kaya lubos kaming natutuwa na maibabahagi namin ang pelikula sa mas maraming tao sa pamamagitan ng commercial run,” he said.
With Sharon in the cast are Niño Muhlach, Moi Bien, Cris Villanueva, Richard Quan, Kiko Matos, Michelle Vito, Joe Gruta, Flor Salanga, Philip Olayvar, Alonzo Muhlach, Neneng Cabanos, Tads Obach, Ren Escano, and Marion Dizon.
