Just when we were still trying to move on from “Look What You Made Me Do,” American pop superstar Taylor Swift dropped another stunner, “…Ready For It?” on Sept 3, Sunday.
The edgy new single is the first track off of Swift’s highly-anticipated album, Reputation, set for a Nov 10 release.
First previewed at the Alabama vs. Florida State college football game on September 2, “…Ready For It?” revealed a heads-over-heels singer who has been dating her British bae, actor Joe Alwyn, according to entertainment site People.
The song, however, is still consistent with the dark, hard-edged Swift ‘who rises from the dead all the time’, with an opening verse filled with spooky words such as ‘killer’, ‘haunted’, ‘ghost’ and ‘phantom’.
Knew he was a killer first time that I saw him
Wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted
But if he’s a ghost, then I can be a phantom
Holdin’ him for ransom
This is also one of the rare moments, if not the first time, that Swift rapped her verses. Kabahan ka na, Kanye West. LOL!
The chorus, meanwhile, was melodical, a sound reminiscent of her Red and 1989 albums.
What are your thoughts on Tay-Tay’s new single? We sure weren’t ready for it.
