After a series of blows and confrontations with WCKD in The Scorch Trials, Thomas must lead the Gladers to overcomes challenges in what could be their most dangerous trials yet in the legendary and enemy-controlled Last City. They need to find the cure for the deadly disease known as “The Flare” and save those who are still alive.

Directed by Wes Ball, who also worked on the series’ previous films, The Death Cure also stars Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Katherine McNamara, Nathalie Emmanuel, Rosa Salazar, Patricia Clarkson, Barry Pepper, Giancarlo Esposito, and Walton Goggins.

The movie was originally slated for a February 17, 2017 release, but was rescheduled to next year due to O’Brien’s injury.

In an interview with entertainment news site Vulture, the actor admitted fearing stunt scenes after sustaining injuries while filming one on set, March of last year.

“I really was in a dark place there for a while and it wasn’t an easy journey back. There was a time there where I didn’t know if I would ever do it again and that thought scared me, too,” he said.

O’ Brien also revealed that filming American Assassin after the terrifying accident was ‘like getting back on my feet‘. The story follows assassin in training Mitch Rapp as he overcomes past tragedy to become a CIA black ops asset.

“This was the first thing I did after that happened to me. It was a really hard time that I was going through, and it was definitely difficult to wrap my brain around it and go out and do it, but at this point, I just couldn’t be more thankful that I did,” he explained.

The Maze Runner: Death Cure will be released in Philippine cinemas on January 26, 2018.
