A world leader seems happy and satisfied with his authentic Filipino fast food experience.

Just hours after his arrival in the country, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau turned heads when he made a surprise visit to the North Harbour branch of Jollibee in Tondo, Manila.

The memorable stop on Sunday, November 12 was documented and shared by the fast food chain on its official social media accounts.

Greeted by a surprised and fascinated crowd, Trudeau came up to the counter himself and ordered Jollibee’s best-selling fried chicken and a strawberry tea float. He also ordered Yum burgers for takeaway before going around, shaking hands, talking to diners and even taking selfies.

The prime minister also went behind the counter for a photograph with the fast food crew, reminiscent of his warm welcome to Jollibee’s first branch in Canada last December 2016.

Netizens quickly expressed adoration for Trudeau’s visit to the well-loved fast food chain.

“I am dead!!! The two Js I love!!! Justin Trudeau and Jollibee!!!” one tweet said.

“I gotta admit, this photo of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau leaving Jollibee is cool AF. ‘Basta ako, I have my Jollibee right here with me. ‘Di naman talaga ASEAN pinunta ko dito eh,” another netizen joked.

There are others, however, who were not very pleased and said that the fast food visit seemed staged. Some netizens also brought up a 2013 incident where 50 container vans of garbage from Canada were discovered illegally shipped to be dumped in the Philippines.

“While Justin Trudeau is very pretty, that Jollibee stop looks calculated. Canada ships garage to dump in the Philippines, ya know,” one tweet said.

“Stop swooning over Justin Trudeau. Don’t forget: tons of garbage from Canada was illegally shipped in our country few years ago and up until now eh nasa Port of Manila pa rin. Ano na, nasan na yung “Canadian Solution” mo? Clean as you go and take your trash with you,” another tweet suggested.

Trudeau, who was dubbed as an “APEC Hottie” from his 2015 visit to the country, is currently in Manila for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits alongside 19 other world leaders such as President Donald Trump of the United States, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan, President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar, to name a few.

What are your thoughts on Prime Minister Trudeau’s Jollibee visit? Bida and saya, no?
