Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Bailey May has come a long way from posting covers of Filipino songs online. He is now officially part of a global pop group, Now United.

Star Magic made the exciting announcement on Thursday, November 16 with a video showing his training with fellow members of the group.

He was also introduced on Now United’s official Instagram account as the only Filipino in the 14-member ensemble of singers and dancers scouted from all over the world.

The confirmation came after rumors of passing the auditions at the Now United boot camp in Los Angeles back in August circulated online. Fellow artists Ylona Garcia, AC Bonifacio and Jane de Leon also took part in the auditions.

Described as a “new interactive pop group for a new generation,” Now United is composed of “incredible young performers” from the United Kingdom, Canada, India, South Korea, Brazil, and the USA. It is formed by the creator of reality TV phenomenon American Idol  and renowned artist manager Simon Fuller.

“Dreams come true,” Bailey wrote on Instagram following the announcement. He also thanked his Star Magic family and promised to “make you all proud.”

On why the 15-year-old was chosen to be part of the group, scouting member Yonta Taiwo said “he’s got everything that you could ever dream of in a star”.

“He has an amazing kind heart, beautiful looks, and charismatic values. He can also sing and dance. And when we saw him, Simon just knew that he was the one,” he added during an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Jeff Fernando.

Taiwo also said that Bailey is the “perfect ambassador” for the country and that being half-British contributes to his “global presence” and ability to speak to a broader audience.

Bailey May first rose to fame as a contestant of Pinoy Big Brother 737. He has since appeared in shows like On the Wings of Love, released an album and has made a successful on-screen, romantic tandem with Ylona Garcia.
