After launching a music video for their single “Liliw,” alt-folk band The Strangeness are set to release their full-length debut album entitled Scorned as Timber, Beloved of the Sky on November 24, Friday.
The band is composed of Francis Cabal (lead vocalist/guitar), Paolo Arciga (vocalist/keys), Jayme Ancia (guitar), Ivan Brosas (guitar), Bijan Gorospe (bass), and Erwin Hilao (drums). The group explains that the album “is an introspective trudge through themes of isolation, pain, and a play for redemption set to a backdrop of delicate acoustic glimmers and washed out distortion.”
The tracks in the album are written and recorded over the span of four years at Watusi Studios with producer Mikey Amistoso (from Ciudad and Hannah + Gabi). The 11-track album includes “Trouble,” “Josephine,” “Empty Caskets,” “Twist the Knife,” and more.
The album launch will be held at Mow’s in Matalino, Quezon City, presented by Wide Eyed Records Manila, Jam 88.3’s Locals Only, and San Miguel Pale Pilsen. Also performing at the launch are art-rock collective The Purplechickens, indie -folk singer Ian Penn, and rock band Ciudad.
Scorned as Timber, Beloved of the Sky will be available on all major streaming and download stores on November 24, 2017. Stay tuned for an exclusive vinyl release early next year.
