With the theme #80sfor80, the team cleanly performed their stunts, pyramids, tosses, tumbling and dance to classic 1980s OPM hits from Filipino disco group VST and Company to celebrate the athletic association’s 80th founding anniversary and eventually came out victorious over seven other participating teams. Adamson won the bronze medal last year.
Netizens quickly expressed their delight over the victory on Twitter.
Congratulations AdU!!! Well deserved! ❤️🙌🏻 #UAAPCDC2017

“Congratulations to Adamson Pep Squad! You’re like the baby of the squad, steadily improving year after year. And now, you’re on top! Well-earned, guys!” another netizen wrote.
Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas’ Salinggawi Dance Troupe — who already have won five UAAPCDC Championships — took home the silver with their #ParaSaUSTE routine, while the University of the East Pep Squad claimed the bronze and ended a 15-year CDC drought with their #UnEnding and #Ultimate performance.
The UP Pep Squad has also made their much-anticipated comeback after a year of absence in the competition. While there were mixed reactions over the routine subpar from their appearances CDC in the previous years, the squad was warmly welcomed back by the almost 20,000 cheerdance fans in attendance at the Mall of Asia Arena. Due to a controversy in 2015, the 8-time UAAPCDC Champion to skipped the following year’s event.
Hopes for a 5-peat championship were shattered as well when the National University Pep Squad failed to make it to the podium, despite their routine’s level of difficulty.
Other universities who vied for the coveted top spot are De La Salle University Animo Squad, Far Eastern University Cheering Squad and Ateneo de Manila University’s Blue Babble Battalion.
