The hustle at work and the bustle in the city can often leave us feeling tense and stressed. Juggling the pressure to deliver excellence while shrugging off exhaustion can leave us feeling drained at the end of every work or school day. Sometimes, all we ever need is a break for our sanity, an escape to recharge and a nature adventure somewhere in Palawan or Batanes to clear the mind of worries.
It’s dream-like, right? However, a trip to a beautiful island or a hike up a mountain will need days off from school or work, a 10-hour travel, money for expenses, and most likely an even more stressful itinerary planning. There’s an oasis-inspired cafe, however, where you can readily experience nature without the travel hassle — and it’s right in the middle of a busy mall.
Café Amazon, one of Thailand’s most popular coffee chain, has launched its first ever mall branch at SM City North Edsa, The Annex.
What started out as a vision “to complete the customer service experience in all PTT gas stations” in 2002 has become a force to be reckoned with in Southeast Asia’s coffee business. With more than 2,000 stores in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Japan and now the Philippines, a record-breaking 140 million cups were served by Cafe Amazon in 2016 alone. It was also selected recently as World Branding Forum’s Brand of the Year Awardee for Petro/Gas Station and Retailer in the Coffee category.
While the coffee chain initially provided solace in people’s travel breaks (they’re usually located beside gas stations where commuters stop by), the oil and gas company’s food and beverage venture was taken to the malls for people to enjoy coffee and tea with interiors of much-needed greenery in a city of buildings and smoke-belching vehicles.
Cafe Amazon boasts a relaxing atmosphere, much-like the untapped beauty of the Amazon rainforest of South America, where families can get together, catch with friends or simply unwind while sipping gourmet-tasting coffee made from carefully selected qualified green beans at affordable prices.
“The moment I tried Cafe Amazon, I just got addicted to their coffee. It’s something else from the rest,” SM North EDSA Cafe Amazon franchisee Rufino Dy said.
Apart from Hot Espresso and Hot Mocha, their must-try drinks include:
Cakes and pastries such as Cashew Cinnamon Roll (P90), Chocolate Cafe Cake (P100) and Little Banoffee Pie (P145) are also available in store.
Currently, Cafe Amazon serves coffee and tea in four different locations, PTT Philippines Marketing Director Thitiroj Rergsumran said they are planning to expand their reach to Filipino consumers.
“After SCTEX, we opened our stores this year at PTT Dasmarinas, Cavite, Pulilan, Bulacan, EDSA Veterans and SM City North EDSA The Annex. This month, we are opening our stores at PTT Lubao 2 in Pampanga as well as 12 more stores expected to open in different locations around Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon,” Rergsumran shared.
