The most wonderful time of the year is here and typical holiday songs are being played everywhere since September. You’ve probably prepared a playlist for the Noche Buena feast with songs like Jose Mari Chan’s “Christmas In Our Hearts” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

Yes, these songs will never get old. But let’s be real, we also need something new to our holiday playlist, right? With that, allow us to list down 10 Christmas songs you don’t usually hear that will make you feel the cheerful Christmas vibes.

1. “No Snow” by Reese Lansangan

Written and performed by Reese Lansangan, “No Snow” perfectly describes what Christmas feels like here in the Philippines. Although we don’t get to experience winter season, our country is still a good place to celebrate the holidays.

Though we might not eat turkey

And we never get snow

Yeah, there’s no winter in my city

But, oh how we glow in Christmas time

2. “Bibingka” by Ben&Ben

A perfect song that will keep you warm during the holidays. This will make you reminisce your sweet simbang gabi experience with your special someone. Listening to this song while eating your favorite Christmas food is a great combo. *wink*

Ang sabi nila

Bilhan mo na siya ng bibingka

Dahil ikaw na ang aking tadhana

Bilhan mo na siya ng bibingka

Dahil ikaw na ang aking tadhana

 3. “River” by Joni Mitchell

Though it was not written as a Christmas song, Joni Mitchell’s “River” which is part of her 1971 album entitled Blue became a holiday hit because of its dreamy and sad tune. As Joni Mitchell said, “We needed a sad Christmas song, didn’t we?”

It’s coming on Christmas

They’re cutting down trees

They’re putting up reindeer

And singing songs of joy and peace

I wish I had a river

I could skate away on

 4. “Winter Song” by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson

Just like Joni Mitchell’s, “Winter Song” is a dreamy track that reminds us of the gray days of winter and that there’s always a spring after the snow. This is part of the The Hotel Café presents…Winter Songs, a collection of female singer-songwriters performing seasonal classics and holiday originals.

This is my winter song to you

The storm is coming soon

It rolls in from the sea

My voice; a beacon in the night

My words will be your light

To carry you to me

5. “Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight)” by Ramones

A rock song for Christmas? Why not! Ramones frontman Joey Ramone wrote this song as part of the B side to their “I Wanna Live” single in 1987. They later included it on as the last track of their 1989 album, Brain Drain.

I love you and you love me

And that’s the way it’s got to be

I loved you from the start

‘Cause Christmas ain’t the time for breaking each other’s heart

6. “Ngayong Pasko” by Gio Levy

Tired of being part of the SMP (Samahan ng Malalamig ang Pasko)? Well, this song will keep you company. With its catchy tune and its hopeful lyrics, Gio Levy’s “Ngayong Pasko” will make you fall in love all over again this Christmas.

Ngayong pasko

Sabi ko ako’y hindi muling maloloko

Ito na naman parang nakaraan

Nababaliw sa’yo

Wala na kong iba pang magagawa

Pwede bang ulit maging tayo?

7. “Little Saint Nick” by She & Him

Written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love for the American rock band the Beach Boys. “Little Saint Nick” is all about Santa Claus and his magical sleigh. It became a hit since it appeared on the 1964 Christmas album of the band. She & Him also has a version of the song included to their album entitled “A Very She & Him Christmas” released on 2011.

Well, way up north where the air gets cold

There’s a tale about Christmas that you’ve all been told

And a real famous cat all dressed up in red

And he spends the whole year workin’ out on his sled

8. “Santa’s Coming For Us” by Sia

Every song from Sia’s first-ever Christmas album is beautiful, but “Santa’s Coming For Us” is clearly our fave. It has the festive vibe of a classic holiday song and has an extremely catchy lyrics that could make everyone sing.

Sing it to the deer in the sky

Sing it as they jingle, jingle, jingle tonight

Sing it to the moon, set it free

You’re the angel on the top of my tree

Sing it to the spirit above

Sing your heart out with all of your love

Santa’s coming for us

9. “The Christmas Sing-Along” by Pentatonix

Pentatonix’s cover of classic Christmas songs are great, but hearing them slay a new and original song for the holiday season is the best! “The Christmas Sing-Along” is one of the songs included in the 11-track Christmas album entitled A Pentatonix Christmas. The enthralling vocal harmonies of the group will never fail to give you chills.

Little boys and girls tell me why you’re down

Hold your head up; you’ve got no reason to frown

‘Cause Santa’s coming, no time for tears tonight

So hope this jingle will make you feel alright (feel alright)

10. “Lambing Ng Pasko” by Coeli

Another Tagalog song to cheer up your holidays! Coeli’s angelic voice will surely make you smile and give you all the Christmas feels you need.

Nakakahawa ang tawanan

Ng mga tao na dumaraan

Kumukuti-kutitap ang mga parol

At ngiti nila
