On Wednesday, January 24, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson made a controversial remark about the Thomasian Alumni Award and said that Mayon Volcano is in Naga instead of Albay. Uh-oh.

She posted a video explaining why she returned her award from the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association (USTAA) and why the media should focus on more relevant issues, like the Dengvaxia vaccine, the alleged bribery issue of Senator Franklin Drilon, and the “Mayon Volcano in Naga.”

Mayon Volcano or Mount Mayon is an active stratovolcano located in the province of Albay in Bicol Region. It is more than a 2-hour trip to Naga in Camarines Sur.

Later on, Mocha admits her mistake in a separate video posted on her Facebook page.
