Gallerists, collectors, and art lovers gather once again as The Link Carpark in Makati transforms into a multi-level exhibition venue for Art Fair Philippines 2018.
Since 2013, the fair has been one of the most sought-after art event in the country. It is considered as a premier platform for exhibiting and selling the best in modern and contemporary visual art.
For 2018, Art Fair PH is expected to be bigger and better. With that, allow us to list down some things to expect this year.
A more organized affair
And because Art Fair PH 2018 is expected to have a bigger crowd, there will be a timed entry period for the public fair days: 10 am to 1:30 pm, 2 pm to 5 pm, and 5:30 pm to 9 pm. Guests may stay at the fair and appreciate the art as long as they wish, and they may leave at their own convenience.
In an effort to increase awareness for photography as a form of contemporary art, a new section can now be seen at the fair. ArtFairPH/PHOTO will showcase pieces from the Julius Baer Collection, photos by Filipino-Catalan photographer Eduardo Masferre, Neal Oshima’s visual tribute to Philippines tribes and indigenous traditions, and Everyday Impunity, an exhibit that documents the Philippines’ “alarming culture of impunity, highlighted in the current government’s campaign against drugs.”
Another highlight of the fair is the ArtFairPH/PROJECTS which features installation arts. For this year, they will feature works by filmmaker Kidlat Tahimik, a group of three social-realist artists: Pablo Baen Santos, Antipas Delovato, and Renato Habulan, Cordillera-based artist Leonard Aguinaldo, conceptual artists Nilo Ilarde, Lyra Garcellano, and Alvin Zafra.
ArtFairPH/TALKS and ArtFairPH/TOURS
In partnership with the Ateneo Art Gallery and the Museum Foundation of the Philippines, ArtFairPH/TALKS and ArtFairPH/TOURS will also return this year to support the fair’s educational component. It will mainly feature talks from different artists and tours in various museums around Metro Manila.
Art Fair Philippines 2018 will run from March 1 to 4 at The Link Carpark, Ayala Center in Makati. Regular tickets are at P350, P150 for students with I.Ds, and P100 for Makati students with I.Ds. For more info, visit Art Fair PH’s website and Facebook page.
