Few more days before the much-awaited ComicCon Asia 2018! But it looks like Marvel fans won’t be seeing the legendary writer Stan Lee at the event this year.
In an official announcement posted on Wednesday, March 15, Lee’s management and ComicCon Asia 2018’s organizers decided to cancel his appearance due to health concerns.
“Due to Mr. Stan Lee’s health concerns, his management team and ComicCon Asia have mutually decided to cancel his agreed appearance at the forthcoming ComicCon Asia 2018. For this reason, we will reimburse those who purchased passes for the Stan Lee Q&A, photo, VIP photo, VIP autograph, and excelsior events,” the statement said.
Those who would like to claim a refund can send their name, email address, mode of payment, and order number to email@example.com.
In a video posted by entertainment website TMZ, the 95-year-old Marvel legend revealed that he had pneumonia.
“Had a little bout of pneumonia I’m fighting, but it seems to be getting better. But I want you all to know I’m thinking of you. Of course I always think of the fans.
“I hope you’re all doing well. I miss you all. I miss your enthusiasm, I miss all the notes, and the photos, and the emails I used to get, and I still get a lot of them. And I want you to know that I still love you all, and I think that Marvel, and Spidey, and I had the best group of fans that any group in the world ever had, and I sure appreciate it,” he said.
Aside from Lee, NBA star Ray Allen, cosplayers Linda Le (a.k.a. Vampy Bit Me) and Anna Redei (a.k.a. Enji Night), and the original Black Ranger from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Walter Jones will also make their appearance at the two-day affair.
You can also attend workshops of Filipino comic book artist Harvey Tolibao, professional cosplay photographer, Jay Tablante, and Transformers comic artist, Alex Milne. Tickets are priced at P1,300 for a two-day pass and P800 for a one-day pass.
