Meet the contenders for February’s trending men:
First blood in the competition: “Carrot Man”
On Tuesday (February 23, 2016), netizens went abuzz as photos of a handsome Igorot farmer from Bauko, Monamon Sur in Mountain Province went viral, causing people to search for his whereabouts and identity. With unparalleled stalking skills, Carrot Man’s real identity was revealed later that day.
Meet 21-year-old Jeyrick Sigmaton who was dubbed as the “overly photogenic Carrot Man” after his photo carrying a huge basket of carrots became an instant hit. Thanks to a certain Edwina T. Bandong who exposed his snaps after spotting him along the road while she was on her way to Sagada.
Following suit: “Cabbage Man”
Days after Carrot Man’s instant fame, netizens turned their attention to a good-looking guy dubbed as Cabbage Man to supply more vegetables in our life.
Photos of Neil Galuten Matchok, known as Cabbage Man on social media, went viral on Friday (February 26, 2016) after her sister Amy Galuten Matchok-Pandoyos shared a photo of him carrying huge baskets of cabbages from the fields of Mountain Province. And boy, does he have muscular arms!
Healthily unhealthy bet: “Chicharon Man”
Vying away from the veggies invading the social media plate is Chicharon Man who added oomph in the “gulay wars.”.The charming chicharon (crunchy fried pork belly snack) vendor was spotted in a bus, selling quail eggs and other yummy transit goodies that Filipinos love.
Bryan Ambriz, commonly known as Chicharon Man, first made an appearance in a Facebook page called Mga kwento ni Kuya BERTO on Friday and instantly hopped in the social media fame in 24 hours.
Balancing things off: “Water Man”
Water Man – named Emman Nimedez in real life – took to Facebook his own photos delivering water on Friday. Although his online moniker was self-proclaimed, it was effective enough to go viral on social networking sites!
“Unang kita ko pa lang sa kanya alam kong hindi siya ordinaryo. Is it just me or (does) he really look like a Korean star from a Korean drama?,” quoted Water Man in his photo’s caption.
Aside from the praises that they are now receiving in their personal Facebook accounts, fan-made accounts were also created for these guys under their monikers. The food wars continue but for now, we’re still waiting for more entries to complete the members making up the “Chopsuey Boys” group.
Netizens now ask: “Carrot Man, Cabbage Man, Chicharon Man, Water Man, ‘di ba pwedeng tayo na-MAN?”
Take your pick!
