The local social media scene was recently rocked by the arrival of a FilAm Internet sensation in the country. With millions of followers on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, Bretman Rock is ready to conquer his homeland… one like and share at a time.

17-year-old Bretman arrived in the Philippines on Monday (February 29, 2016) to the surprise of his Pinoy fans on both Twitter and Facebook. In case you’re wondering what all the fuss was about, here are 10 reasons his name is starting to boom in the digital space:

1. He’s Pinoy too!

Bret, as his friends call him, knows how to speak Tagalog and Ilocano even though he grew up in Hawaii. But he’s admittedly more fluent in the latter. As he shared in previous vlogs, he was born in Cagayan Valley.

Pinaglihi ako ng mama ko sa balut,” said Bretman in his Filipino Q&A video when asked if he’s willing to try it. He also misses kikiam, kwek-kwek,  sago’t gulaman, barbecue, chicken wings, and isaw.

Fun fact: He loves It’s Showtime, Gandang Gabi Vice, On the Wings of Love, and Pangako Sa ‘Yo. (JaDine-KathNiel fan alert!). Plus, he goes kilig when watching Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza on screen.

2. Makeup on point!

Eyebrows on fleek every single time – that’s Bretman Rock. If you follow his page and vlog, you’ll know not just fixing those brows, but also discover more about strobing, contouring, blending, and prettifying your makeup to get all glammed up.

Let his videos speak for him:

One of the most viewed videos on his page is the ratchet contouring video.  His followers will instantly remember his makeup instructions due to the funny examples he used.

3. And oh boy, does he know how to work it

Fierce, giiiirl. Fierce!

4. He’s got no space for haters

“Haters are like ghosts. They only exist if you let them exist and if you believe in them.”

He’s right when he said that you won’t have haters if you don’t read or pay attention to hate comments. You go, gurl! Preach.

5. Too honest for life

He confidently speaks his mind and that’s what we all need in life. A bit of humor and honesty. Work it!

Like we get it you’re straight …. Btw @mannymua733 x @makeupgeekcosmetics on my eyes

6. Effortlessly witty and funny

We won’t recommend you to watch his videos if vulgar words are too much for you but he is humorous and frank in all realness (bleeped words included).

7. And talented

Did you know that he can act? We can’t get over this “drama” scene called “Nanay, Nandito na ang Pansit” (video shared above) with a cute unicorn in place of an imaginary mom. It’s comedy and drama in one!

And again and again, his makeup prowess is amazing. We’re thinking he can follow the likes of Paolo Ballesteros.

8. His signature “Ahhuuaaah” that only he can do

Bret’s signature “ahhuuaaah” (as he spelled it in a Facebook post) is something only he can pull off perfectly. He has used this as a transition in his vlogs. Although some have tried copying it, there’s something uniquely Bretman about it. Here’s his video explaining how to do it:

It’s Ahhuuaaah !! Not -“ahhhh”, “heeeee” heeeeaaii” two syllables

Try it yourself!

9. Let’s not forget his don’t judge me challenge entry

I tried okay so don’t harass … #dontjudgechallenge

10. His Filipina mom is the classic mom we all have

With an Ilocano mom, Bretman knows how to speak fluent Ilocano as well. His mom is the perfect example of a mother we constantly annoy but love with all our heart.

Bret features his mom in various “bideos” in his page. We’d classify their relationship as a love-hate one, but the bond is of a different level.

His followers would always go “Filipino/Ilocano moms are the best” or “My Filipino mom is exactly like your mom”.

If the reasons above are not enough proof, here are some Pinoys going crazy on Twitter during his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport:
