It’s time to celebrate breakfast…because who doesn’t love breakfast?

For the fourth year in a row, McDonald’s brought morning fun to the Philippines through free breakfast sandwiches and more fun surprises on March 14 no matter where you are. Waking up early to grab a free McMuffin ourselves, here are five things we noticed that made this year’s National Breakfast Day extra special:

Free breakfast nationwide!

Thousands of Filipinos flocked to over 400 stores nationwide to get a dose of their free McMuffin sandwich this Monday with families, friends, and even on their own! Those who were flying solo did not go home disappointed, though. Aside from getting free breakfast, they were also treated to an early morning surprise (which will be revealed as you read along).

Waking up before sunrise? No biggie…at least for today. The free McMuffins are only made available from 6:00 to 7:00 a.m. so we were all encouraged to jog to the nearest McDonald’s branch just to get a taste of the Breakfast Day goodness.

It’s a good thing to fuel up our bodies with energy as early as seven. This prepared us to face the day head on.

McDo’s way of saying “AlDub you” (so much)

Surprise, surprise! Maine Mendoza and Alden Richard, collectively known as AlDub, from the much talked about Kalyeserye of Eat Bulaga joined the morning fun by serving unsuspecting customers with the yummy sandwiches. Well, maybe some expected to see them as they’re the most recent endorsers of the fast-food chain. But still, what a way to say “Good morning!”

McDo does not only love us. They love us SO MUCH that they even deployed more celebrities to awaken the sleepy Pinoys who dropped by their stores. Included in the stars-turned-McDo staff for a day are Xian Lim, Enrique Gil, Janine Gutierrez, Bianca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix, Alwyn Uytingco, Vin Abrenica, Mark Neumann, and Shaira Mae Dela Cruz.

What a good morning, indeed.

Joining the fun is no other than the much-loved icon of McDonald’s — Ronald McDonald! He entertained the visitors and posed for wacky photos. He has been with us every National Breakfast Day since 2013.

More food coming our way

The morning cheer goes further than March 14 through a “breakfast surprise.” Groups or organizations who were unable to enjoy a good breakfast because of their super early work schedule will be given 100 free McMuffin sandwiches by participating McDonald’s stores. It’s a great way of acknowledging the hard work of our dear security guards, hospital staff, and police personnel.

As for the others who missed it: Prepare yourselves. This is not a drill. More breakfast is coming your way!

25 lucky Twitter users were also given free breakfast fare for four! All we need to do is follow these five easy steps:

Happy National Breakfast Day everyone!
