They say one of the best ways to enjoy life is to “dance like no one’s watching”. We’d like to spice that quote up and add more fun: “Dance like no one’s watching… and listening!”
It’s double the carefree vibe at a party where you can enjoy your choice of music at your own pace, own time — minus the unnecessary noise by people chattering around, and still be able to socialize at your own will.
MB Life attended the first-ever silent party in a hotel at the Metro last Friday (April 22, 2016) called “Neonized”, and boy, was it the perfect mix of chill and energetic atmosphere. Unlike ordinary clubs and bars where speakers are on full blast and a solo DJ decides on what the party-goers listen to, the poolside party over at the Golden Phoenix Hotel in Pasay City offered a mix of three different music genres controlled by three DJs and individual wireless headphones for guests to enjoy the music.
It’s not just lights off for them. It’s also sounds off! Don’t worry, though. A silent party isn’t totally silent to the point that you’ll be hearing crickets. DJs still play music but the audio quality is way better with your headphones on. Plus, you’ll have the perfect excuse not to talk to anyone while dancing or while sipping on your favorite drink (Did we mention they offer unli booze, too?).
If you’re up for socialization, talking to anyone is made easy peasy. Just remove your headphones and you can instantly talk with your friends without needing to lose your voice shouting over the loud blasts of music.
According to Juan Miguel Barrera, one of the organizers, the party originated from Europe and was eventually brought to the Philippines.
You also have a choice of music with this type of party. The three channels (using three-way radio frequency) to choose from may vary from a mix of Dubstep/Techno, Hip-Hop, or House music. You’re free to listen at any volume, too!
With a poolside venue, blacklights making your outfits glow, and headphones that change color according to your channel, “Neonized” looked like a magical outdoor party with everyone baring their preferred party vibe.
This silent party is open to all ages. We met a couple of businessmen and co-millennials there… so, not bad!
“Expect a different kind of partying, clubbing because this is actually in line with our marketing campaign. We are also helping to promote responsible partying because (we are) having a noise-free environment through the wireless headsets,” said Barrera for those who are interested to experience the new party style.
To fully enjoy the party, he advices party-goers to “keep your headphones on, tag your friends along – the more the merrier, or chill on your own”.
Meanwhile, Golden Phoenix Hotel’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Christine Ibarreta told MB Life that they’re planning to do such events every weekend.
“We plan to have events every Fridays and Saturdays to cater to the yuppies or to the millennials as well,” said Ibarreta. “We would like to make the hotel a place where unique events happen.”
Expect more surprises to come from Grand Phoenix Hotel, Liberty Grounds, and silent partying as the organizers are whipping up extra special events and surprises for the coming weeks. For updates, don’t forget check out their Facebook page!
