We’re not going to ask who declared it, why, or if Xiao Long Bao Day is even a real thing.
We’re just going to revel in the fact that Din Tai Fung is celebrating and relish its one-day offering. Just for today, the Michelin-starred restaurant is dropping the price of its chocolate lava XLB to…P1. Uh-huh, the delicious dessert dumpling is priced at P1 each. Today.
Ah, but of course there is a fine print: You must order another XLB dish—we highly recommend Crab Roe and Pork which is at P285 for five pieces—before you can avail of the promo.
Aaand, you must order three pieces of the chocolate lava XLB before they drop the price down to P1. Which shouldn’t be a problem because (1) it’s so good, three pieces sounds just about right and (2) what’s P3?
There are now two locations of Din Tai Fung in Manila. A year after arriving to the Philippines through the Mega Fashion Hall, DTF has opened a second branch in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig just last month.
Each location has allocated 1,000 baskets of the chocolate lava XLB for the event.
By the way, the chocolate lava XLB was specifically developed for the Philippine market. It was so successful that DTF has also made it available in Taiwan. That’s what you’re paying P1 for—or actually P3 for. Because it’s three pieces, remember?
