Fantastic timing for Solenn Heussaff and the Spanish boys of Rambla, Las Flores, and La Lola Churerria to open a “sexy tapas bar.” Tomatito, the aforementioned sexy tapas bar, is throwing open its doors tonight, Dec 19—Monday before Christmas, if we may add—at BGC in Taguig.
Though serving Spanish cuisine, Tomatito, which means little tomato in English, is actually an import from Shanghai, China. It is the brainchild of award-winning Spanish Chef Willy Trullas Moreno, who, like the boys behind Rambla, La Lola, and Las Flores, has been operating his group of Spanish restaurants.
Anyway, Chef Willy decided to spread his seeds across the region by bringing Tomatito in Manila first with locations in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh to follow.
Mexican chef Carlos Franco, also from Tomatito Shanghai, is in town and has contributed in the menu, too so there are items in the menu like Croquetas Don Julio—spicy chorizo and cheese croquettes—representing Mexico side by side the much-talked about Salmon TNT, which is smoked salmon with honey and truffle.
As its name suggests, Tomatito serves delicious nibbles, small plates of tapas perfect for happy hour or after hours.
