Color authority Pantone Color Institute has announced greenery as the color of the 2017—a contrast to 2016’s “rose quartz” and “serenity blue” and an answer too, to the terrible year that was.
According to Pantone’s VP Laurie Pressman, greenery signals “a yearning to rejuvenate and to reconnect to both nature and something larger than oneself.”
Greenery, thankfully, is easy to wear. “It works best with natural hues like khaki or camel, and alongside indigo or island blues,” writes Manila Bulletin’s resident fashion columnist Pierra Calanz. It’s a versatile shade that works well with brights, metallic and pastels, and looks particularly fresh with pink.
Below are five ways you can inject greenery into your wardrobe.
1. Liana tropical-print shirtdress from Cole Vintage (P995)
It’s fashionable enough for brunch with the girls, comfortable enough for a lazy weekend lounging, and presentable enough for a Thursday afternoon client meeting. What’s not to love?
2. Brielle rattan small crossbody purse with tassel by Cathy (P2,800)
If you feel like greenery isn’t the most flattering color on you, but would still like to join the fray, look no further. The rattan bag will inject the right burst of greenery to your ensemble.
3. Fluke (whale tail) seaglass pendant by Cat&Kai Handmade Jewelry (P TBA)
This pendant is elegant and subtle and has greenery written all over it. We like!
4. Wild Flower flats by Ziggy and Zooey (P780).
Talk about a burst of cool! These flats won’t just let you join the greenery game—they also add a burst of color, uplifting your mood and wardrobe at the same time.
5. Avocado-print socks by Iconic (P TBA).
Avocado, check. Greenery, check. Are we missing anything else?
