When reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach entered the stage at the Miss Universe Preliminaries Thursday night, she wowed the crowd, looking every bit like the Queen she is.
Her hair was in a bun, neatly parted in the middle, a beautiful pair of pearl earrings framing her face. But it was Pia’s immaculately embroidered off-white, long-sleeved evening dress, hugging her svelte figure as she walked down to center stage, that totally did it for us.
According to Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco, who made it, the dress was inspired by the Terno and the Barong Tagalog. Let that sink in for a bit: the Terno and the Barong Tagalog.
It’s a tricky thing, to combine two distinct traditions—typically menswear and womenswear—but Michael successfully married them. And Pia? There isn’t a better person to model the creation.
But just as we were getting used to the look, Pia then changed into another Michael Cinco dress. An exquisite black sleeveless beaded number, with a cut-out sleeve that went around and covered her entire back.
Oh no. We don’t think we’re ready for Pia Wurtzbach’s reign to end just yet.
Fast forward to the 25:05 time stamp to see her beautiful entrance last night:
