Don’t get us wrong: We love this classy new Lady Gaga persona, the one with muted makeup, jamming with the likes of Tony Bennett.
But we miss the old Gaga, the one who wore flashy costumes, and had crazy makeup on.
So what an awesome surprise to see the singer back to her old self during the SuperBowl half time performance.
Wearing a super flashy silver costume, crazy-great makeup, with fantastic set to boot too, Lady Gaga, in her great bellowing voice, sang a subtle political stand.
She opened with lines from “God Bless America” and “This Land is Your Land” on a rooftop, after which she, in true acrobatic style, “plunged down” to the venue singing “Poker Face.” It was thrilling, it was exhilarating, we loved it.
The choreography harks back to her good old ways when her charm came with a shock. Even the blazing set came from her old image.
She followed with “Born This Way,” which totally sent out her promised messaged of “inclusion.” According to the New York Times, “it was doubtless the first time the word ‘transgendered’ had been sung at a Super Bowl show.”
Gaga performed a string of hits that ended in the most upbeat fashion with “Bad Romance.”
