Canadian pop-rock band The Moffats are back in the Philippines after 16 years for the Manila leg of The Fairwell Tour. On Saturday Feb 18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Scott, Clint, and Bob—minus Dave—will be performing their ’90s hits like “Miss You Like Crazy,” “Girl Of My Dreams,” “I’ll Be There For You,” “If Life Is So Short,” and new stuff from their latest, Endless Summer and Scott Moffatt.
In an interview with Manila Bulletin, Clint said that he always remembered their Manila tour back in 1998 because the Manila crowd made them feel like The Fab Four.
“I remember playing at the Araneta and I was like – we thought we were like – The Beatles. It was the first time that kind of thing happened. So, it is always a great experience coming back. We love it in this part of the world. People have been incredibly kind to us. So we thought it would be cool to come back and do a show again here,” he said.
Bob said that he can’t forget their show at Megamall, where thousands showed up. “There were at least 10,000 to 15,000 people in the mall and another 10,000 people waiting outside. It was crazy, the girls were climbing up the rafters. It was cool.”
Apparently, the warm Manila welcome jumpstarted the 1998 tour for Chapter 1: New Beginning. We were the first leg of the Asian tour.
“They (Filipino fans) have been very supportive of our music and all we have done. You always have been there for us. It makes me really appreciate everyone. It is cool that these girls are the same as us now. We’re adults now. But they are still going crazy, having fun and really enjoying the moment,” Scott said.
The Moffatts’ “The Farewell Tour: Live in Manila 2017” is presented by Midas Promotions.
