March is our month, ladies! As part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day on March 8, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) line up activities for the celebration of National Women’s Month. This year’s theme? “We Make Change Work for Women”

Here are some of the events and activities organized by the PCW that you don’t want to miss:

1. We Make Change: Women Inspiring Women Series

Get to know why gender identity matters and why ones gender identity should never be used as reason for discrimination….

A forum that aims to celebrate women’s journey by sharing inspiring stories of change in their chosen fields. Congresswoman Geraldine Roman, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde and other personalities will talk about importance of gender identity and the beauty of selfless acts. Mar 8, 1pm-5pm. GSIS Theater, Pasay City. 

2. Free admission to Intramuros tourist spots

Women’s Day on March 8 sounds like the right time to explore and tour the historical walls of Intramuros. Free entrance to all female visitors at Casa Manila, Baluarte de San Diego, and Fort Santiago on Mar 8.

3.  Libreng Sakay Para kay Juana

Free rides for women, yay! The free ride in LRT Line 2 stations is from 7am-9am and 5pm-7pm, also on Mar 8.

Maximizing the power of social media, everyone is encourage to share their idea of change and women empowerment by posting a photo of themselves using the hashtags: #BilangBabae and #partnerforchange. PCW will randomly select from pre-evaluated posts that will receive special prizes as a token of appreciation for joining the online initiative. March 1-20. 

6. Cine Juana Film Festival 2017

Organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), the festival aims to showcase and celebrate women’s empowerment and the various role that Filipino women play in the society. Mar 20-24, FDCP Cinematheque Centre Manila.
