Everybody can agree that Emma Watson makes for the perfect Belle. But reading Janet Nepales’s interview with the British actress on Manila Bulletin on Monday morning has us convinced Emma is totes Belle.
“Books to me mean so many different things. I probably travel with four books at once because there are different things that I like to read when I am in different moods,”says the 26-year-old actress who is playing Belle in the upcoming live-action version of Beauty and Beast.
“For example, I don’t tend to read non-fiction before bed, because that makes me start thinking too much and then I can’t sleep. So I like to read fiction before bed. I like to read non-fiction in the morning. And I like to have a balance of things that are light and dark. But yeah, books are friends. Books are an escape. Books are a means to empowerment and books are a means to understanding yourself better and the world around you. They are everything.”
Emma, as you may recall, famously leaves books in New York subway stations. She also runs a book club, which is reading Women Who Run With Wolves.
“When alone, she said, ‘I read. Sometimes I just putter about and just be in my space. I am very homey, cozy, a homebody. So I cook’,” she continues.
Ah, doesn’t that make you think of the opening sequence of Beauty and the Beast?
