Oozing with swag in his usual three-piece suit, 72-year-old Alex Tayag caught the attention of an MRT rider, who quickly took a snap of him, and uploaded it on Facebook.
He quickly became an internet sensation for obvious reasons: these days, we don’t see anybody as well-dressed nor as well-groomed as Mr. Tayag here. Not even the most on-trend millennial had game against him.
Apparently, he’s a Maestro—or a master tailor—at Suit It Up on Arnaiz Avenue in Makati, where he’s been working for 17 years now.
Wearing his three-piece full ensemble suit, Tayag would commute from Pampanga to Makati every day, scorching heat, crazy rain, thick crowd e damned. “Nasanay na ako,” he tells Anne Janelle Francisco of Manila Bulletin. “Ordinaryo na lang sa kin [ang magsuot ng suits].” He has about 20 suits that he chooses his daily outfits from.
Says Tayag, it was only four years ago when he decided to dress-up for his everyday. After all, he’s been making them for over 50 years.
His outfit is always matched with a neck or bow tie, a hat, and a pair of fashionable shoes.
Now, can someone please say on fleek?
