Intramuros during Holy Week sounds like plan from God: Inside the walled city, religion (churches!), arts and culture (museums), and history (practically the entire neighborhood) come together.

And then there’s Silahis Center, Intramuros’ best-kept secret: Three floors of pure Filipino goods and goodness! Furniture, homewares, weaves, general bric-a-brac, a quiet bookstore on the second floor, and until May 1, an art exhibit on the third floor.

Pagtatagpo: Meeting of the Minds is a group art exhibit of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA) class of 1986 at the Silahis Center on General Luna Street that runs until May 1. It’s an art exhibit and a reunion rolled into one.

After 31 years, the CAFA alumni decided to come together and celebrate their successes from various fields through art. It has over 40 pieces with a wide range of art styles and expressions. The artists used different mediums from acrylic paint to mixed media.

Participating artists are Lorna Achico, Jackie Alvarez, Sofie Brondial, Bones Calleja, Lillette Cifra, Jocelyn dela Cruz, Clemente Woods, Louie Escauriaga, Jene Espiritu, Alejo Leal, Rissa Calica Gimenez, Raymond Legaspi, Dina Lucero, Jim Gustilo Mondares, Mitch Miranda- Nash, Fel. R. Plata, Virginia Candelario- Segur, Mary Anne Tan-Torres, Michael De Vera, and Raymund Velante. With special participation of guest artist Jose Glenn P. Blanco.
